the only thing I had to change was this:
    image=$mask,
    compose='CopyOpacity',

to this:
    image=>$mask,
    compose=>'CopyOpacity',

    ( so: = to => )

otherwise I'd ended up with an error.

It works great by the way. And I'm fully aware it's probably easy for
you, but hey, I'm not you and it sure wasn't easy for me. Next time
I'll cry for help here again in stead of fiddling for hours and trying
to find my way through the documents and examples.

Please don't read this as negativity, but it'd be great if the
information for perlmagick were easier to understand or a bit more
complete. Then again, it might be just me.
