There is the example of the piechart on this page.  It's a little 
unclear how you actually run this in a php or shell script or on the 
command line.  I dont' really need to do anything this complex, but I 
would like to be able to create circles as pies with 4-8 slices in 
varying colors (which I pass through a script). 

Point me to a simple tutorial is fine.
