Recent versions of ImageMagick are threaded to take advantage of dual and
quad-core processor technology.  The greatest speed advantage will come from
running on a multi-core host and utilitizing ImageMagick from one of the
scripting languages (PerlMagick, iMagick, MagickWand for PHP) rather than
from the command line.
