[magick-users] large installation design question

hi all,

im looking for some advice on designing a large imagemagick installation.
here are the 2 options,

1. large number of load-balanced webservers, running imagemagick
2. linux cluster w/ imagemagick

do you think the later would out-perform the former, and if so why?  my
guess there will be performance tradeoffs in certain scenarios, but some
empirical data would be nice, if anybody could steer me in the right
direction.
