[magick-users] Convert Error

I am new to ImageMagick so sorry for the basic question.
 
 
 
I have a pic1.jpg stored on the root of my C drive C:\pic1.jpg
 
I wish to convert this from within dos running as a batch program.
 
 
What is the command I need to write to do this I tried 
 
 
Convert pic1.jpg pic1.bmp 
 
 
Which keeps giving me an error about being able to locate the image and also on line below "Missing Image File Name Pic1.bmp".
 
I know this should be a quick resolve for somebody can u please help me to get started with this software.
