Hello,

I'm looking for documentation as to what the different numeric output
options of the compare function actually do. Indeed, not only am I not sure
what the numbers mean, I'm not sure if I understand what all my options even
are. And I'm not finding this anywhere on the web.

I've taken a quick peek at the source code but its not immediately helpful.

Can anyone offer advice or experience with compare and what the numbers
actually stand for?
