[magick-users] Newbie: create gradient text

Hi,

I am trying to generate a tif file using following command

convert -depth 1 -compress Fax -density 204x196 -monochrome jpeg90.pdf
FILE%03d.tif

It is generating a valid tif file in tiffg3 format, but the quality of the
image is very poor. Am I missing any options which improves the image
quality?
