[magick-users] What is DeskewImage meant to do?

I see that this a new addition to ImageMagick, since my
Fedora-provided 6.3.8.1 doesn't have it. Before I spend my time with
the CVS version of ImageMagick, may I inquire what algorithm is used
for deskewing?
There are already a couple of tools based on the Radon transform,
namely the (seemingly abandoned) pagetools
[http://sourceforge.net/projects/pagetools/], and a new gimp plugin
based on those [http://www.cubewano.org/gimp-deskew-plugin/].
