[magick-users] ImageMagick on OS X Permissions?

I've recently switched from developing on a WAMP box, to developing  
with a Mac Pro, running the built in OS X Apache and PHP etc.

PHP file upload and convert using IM scripts that used to work (and  
still do in an online 'nix environment) have stopped now.

I installed IM using MacPorts and it seems that the Apache owned  
files (user www) are inaccessible to IM.

anyone seen this issue before and found a better workaround than  
editing all my PHP to chmod the uploaded file?

Can I get IM into the www group?

any suggestions gratefully appreciated!
