[magick-users] Reducing output range

Hi,

I'm working with 8 bit greyscale images and I need to convert
down to 5 bit (5 bits of level in each byte, still keeping 8 bits
per pixel, top 3 bits always 0 - don't blame me, blame the printer
language I'm fighting with).

I can simulate this in gimp or photoshop by reducing the output
level range to 0-31, but I can't find a similar way of adjusting
levels in Imagemagick (I'm actually using perlmagick).

Any help gratefully received.
