[magick-users] Problem: jp2 files generated by convert are
unreadable on a Mac (Photoshop, preview)

Dear All,
my scanner produces images with 16 bits/channel, and in order to
compress them while retaining the color depth, I used "convert" to
convert them to .jpg (Jpeg 2000) format.
The command line is something like: convert blah.tif -depth 16 blah.jp2
Now, the problem is that these .jp2 files cannot be opened on a Mac.
They seem corrupted, both in Preview, and in Photoshop.
I am using this version of convert (the one that comes with Debian stable):
Version: ImageMagick 6.2.5 11/02/05 Q16 http://www.imagemagick.org
Copyright: Copyright (C) 1999-2005 ImageMagick Studio LLC
Is this a known issue? Is the .jp2 support in convert known to be buggy?
I searched around, but I have not been able to find details.
I put a sample corrupt image on http://www.dealfaro.com/home/etna.jp2
in case anybody wants a sample.
I would be very grateful for any help....
Thanks,
Luca
