[magick-users] so what are profiles and what do the give me?

Hi, all --

It seems that nobody has an idea why removing profiles would actually
make my images bigger, which is quite surprising.  So I'll take a
different approach and ask what are profiles and where I can go to learn
more about them to attempt to divine the answer myself.

Any assistance is terribly terribly appreciated.
