Not knowing how these files were produced, it is difficult to say.
Clearly the files are named differently so there must be some
difference.  Maybe the ImageMagick-i686-pc-windows.exe comes from the
same ImageMagick release as the other file, or maybe not.  One
identifies itself at install as "Q16" while the other has "Q8" in the
name, so maybe that is the difference.  One is for "windows" while the
other is for "win2k", which may or may not be the same operating
system since Windows 2000 is a specific Windows version.  Maybe the
win2k version only works under Windows 2000?  Clearly the i686 version
must require an Intel Pentium Pro processor.

Maybe you should try installing both of them and see which one works
better.
