I had a problem with TIFF-files on Mac (using the binary dist). It
wouldn't work at all. After trying many things, I took the long road
at last and used Darwin Ports to install necessary packages and then
compiled a version myself. That fixed everything. It is my impression
that the binary dist of ImageMagick for Mac is broken wrt Tiff-files.

This  was using Tiger on an Mac Pro (that would be Intel Xeon)
