Hi,

I am trying to install ImageMagic-6.3.2-9 on SUN Solaris-10 (sparc).
I have installed many times a version in the past, such as 6.2.7 last year.

When make'ing mageMagic-6.3.2-9, I get lots of messages such as
...
Text relocation remains referenced
     against symbol offset in file
<unknown> 0x0 /usr/local/lib/libbz2.a(decompress.o)
<unknown> 0x4 /usr/local/lib/libbz2.a(decompress.o)
...

BZ2_bz__AssertH__fail 0x2240 /usr/local/lib/libbz2.a(blocksort.o)
...
ld: fatal: relocations remain against allocatable but non-writable sections
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [magick/libMagick.la] Error 1

(I downloaded from http://www.bzip.org/ the latest version 1.0.4 of bzip2
and libbzip2, compiled and installed from sources the static version
of the lib /usr/local/lib/libbz2.a, then tried to install also a shared
object version of libbz2, but this failed (statis version OK))

I believe ImageMagick should also be able to compile with the static
version - this is how I did it in all the past years..

What's wrong and how to solve it ?

Thanks for help and hints..

Pieter
