Strange as SUSE has fontconfig 2.4.1 as well. :-( 
 
Is it possible to try on a 64 bit system as well? I tried to remove the 
asserts from FcCacheFini, which is basicly just the same thing as not 
calling the method, the application will crash on exit, possibly due to 
a memory corruption in fontconfig handling (it happens on some Qt 
object destruction, but I don't have that version of fontconfig at this 
moment). 

But if you say it is not a bug in ImageMagick and even fontconfig 2.4.1 
works on Fedora, I will report the bug to the SUSE developers.
