Select & extract feature accurately

Post by Leeny »

Dear all,

I am a newbie in image processing. I am currently trying to work on medical image which I find quite interesting but lacking in knowledge to be able to move on.
For example I am having an xray image or MRI image (in grey scale), if I want to select a particular organ only and to extract it, how do I go about doing it from here?
I have tried using Adobe photoshop magicwand but failed because magicwand can only select the part with solid continuous line (edges of the feature). I tried lasso tool also but not as accurate because it is determined by my own justification which area to select.
I really would appreciate if anyone can kindly help me to get the ball starts rolling. Thanks.

I would think you need to supply a sample image; also this would be better posted in the Users section.
