Looking for academic reference on Discrete Laplacian kernels

Greetings,

I found IM's information page on discrete Laplace operators ( http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/convolve/#laplacian ) to be very helpful to some scientific computing I am doing. While I can find some academic discussions of discrete Laplacians, I have found only a couple of references that mention kernels at all, and none with the informative descriptions of the effects of the various kernels that you have on that page.

Can anyone recommend a book or other publication that goes into similar detail about the properties of the various discrete Laplacian kernels that might make a good academic reference? Thanks very much!

-Eric

See the book by William Pratt, "Digital Image Processing", Wiley Publications, 1978, p482 and 484

P.S. You may be interested in my derivations at http://www.fmwconcepts.com/imagemagick/ ... tering.pdf

I would suspect the book by Gonzales and Woods, would also have such information. See http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Image-Pro ... 0201180758

Dear Fred,

Your paper is a great help and I'll cite it as a source if that's all right. I will also investigate the books you mentioned.

Thanks,
Eric

No need to cite my tutorial if the books provide what you need.
