There is a very light 'yellowing' in the rules-sucks resize test compared to just direct linear RGB resizing, but in essence... yes the 'L' channel of LAB did seem to be quite well separated from the color information. But as you say not absolutely perfectly.

If I did not have to worry about money and could spend all my time chasing interesting stuff...
