New Install - EPS Conversions are all B&W + distorted

Hello,

We just installed IM on a new server and everything seems to work normally. JPG images are handled fine and look great.

However, EPS to JPG conversions all come out B&W, and distorted. They are pure B&W with no colors whatsoever, and the image appears to be skewed. The image is so distorted that you can barely identify it from the original image - although the distortion is smooth enough that it almost looks purposeful. Like a Photoshop liquity filter almost.

Normally I would assume it's something on our end - but we are using identical code that works perfectly on our other installation.

We checked GS and conversions work fine from it's command line.

Any ideas? Suggestions would be MUCH appreciated!

Does the EPS conversion fail for all formats. Try
  • convert -verbose image.eps image.pnm
    display image.pnm
Post the output of the command here. Post a URL to one of your EPS images. We'll let you know if it works for us or not and if not how to fix the problem.

Here is the output you requested.

[root@Server6482 temp]# display image.pnm

I was able to DL and open image.pnm - and it looks perfect.

I will send the EPS image in a private message, due to legal distribution restrictions.

Thank you!

We cannot reproduce the problem with your image and the current ImageMagick and Ghostscript release, 6.4.9 and 8.64 respectively. What happens when you use this command:
  • convert -colorspace rgb test-december77.eps test-december77.jpg

That script worked properly (!)

However, a correction to my last post - the PNM images did NOT work properly. It also returned the funny skewed version. I had accidentally ran the command on our live server, which unsurprisingly worked. So my correction, on the new install the PNM does not work.

Hello again,

Just wondering if you have any further thoughts on what could be causing this, or how we may go about resolving it?

Thanks!

This will be my last bump - just wondering if there are any further thoughts on what this could be?

As a recap, when converting EPS to JPG:
Works: convert -colorspace rgb test-december77.eps test-december77.jpg
Does NOT Work: convert test-december77.eps test-december77.jpg
Does NOT Work: convert -verbose image.eps image.pnm

When it does not work, it displays a black&white image of the EPS, but heavily distorted.

Our present magicwand code uses MagickSetImageColorspace($wand, MW_RGBColorspace);

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks,
