Portable linux version much slower

Post by doncaruana »

Working on Ubuntu, I've found that the portable version (7.0.9-26) is significantly slower than the repository version (6.8.9-9 on Ubuntu 16.04). Running a series of 5 pretty simple transformations (just different resizes) on the same file takes ~8 seconds on the repository version and almost 30 on the portable one. Is there a way to speed up the portable version? Or is the newer version just that much slower? I tried to find an archive version of the portable to test but couldn't find one.

Its likely slower because the current portable version is not multi-threaded. We will have an updated portable version within a week that is multi-threaded.
