A cumbersome but possible workaround is to go from RGB JPEG to CMYK TIFF and from there to CMYK JPEG.
No blurring anymore.

Re: Solaris compilation warnings
I haven't done the "make install" step yet. Sitting in the source tree of 6.7.0-1 > utilities/convert rose: /tmp/rose.png > utilities/identify /tmp/rose.png )????p?-??@ )????p?-??@ -6.7823572748394939838e+301x-5.0613510730035206353e+302 -6.7823572748394787567e+301x-5.0613510730035206353e+3...

Re: Solaris compilation warnings
I'd be happy if I could debug this for you.
Just give me the printf() statements or a patch file.
I could access a subversion or git repository too.

Re: Solaris compilation warnings
Thanks very much indeed for this quick correction.
Compilation is now possible again under Solaris.
Validation still fails, now with gremlin characters in the log file:

Re: Solaris compilation warnings
6.7.0-0 doesn't compile at all. Re: Solaris compilation warnings
It's rather short and doesn't point to a specific test. Here it is: FAIL: tests/validate-formats-in-memory.sh (exit: 134) ===================================================== Assertion failed: data != (const unsigned char *) NULL, file magick/blob.c, line 3966, function WriteBlob Version: ImageMagi...

Solaris compilation warnings
Hello, I successfully compile ImageMagick under Solaris with two minor problems: 1. Failed validation FAIL: tests/validate-formats-in-memory.sh (exit: 134) ===================================================== Assertion failed: data != (const unsigned char *) NULL, file magick/blob.c, line 3966, fun...

Re: JPEG compressed CMYK TIFF, libtiff question
I recompiled a rather old IM version 6.4.4-10 with otherwise the same configuration parameters for IM and the libs (libtiff 3.9.4, libjpeg 8c) The result is ok using a simple "convert cmyk-jpeg.tif -colorspace rgb rgb.jpg". I assume that IM somehow lost the ability to work with the funny P...

Re: JPEG compressed CMYK TIFF, libtiff question
I could well be that this is a libjpeg question. libjpeg documentation says: CAUTION: it appears that Adobe Photoshop writes inverted data in CMYK JPEG files: 0 represents 100% ink coverage, rather than 0% ink as you'd expect. This is arguably a bug in Photoshop, but if you need to work with Photosh...

Re: JPEG compressed CMYK TIFF, libtiff question
That won't improve things. using the provided TIFF input http://dl.dropbox.com/u/84530/IM/cmyk-jpeg.tif convert cmyk-jpeg.tif -profile SWOP.icc -profile sRGB.icm rgb.jpg still shows false color, checked with various display programs. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/84530/IM/rgb.jpg Is there anybody who can ...

Re: JPEG compressed CMYK TIFF, libtiff question
My input file is TIFF (with JPEG compression).JPEG images with CMYK must contain a Color Profile
So is your statement valid for CMYK TIFF as well?
Regards, Axel.
